Identifizierung und Charakterisierung der Glyko-Rezeptoren von viralen und bakteriellen Krankheitserregern

Das Ziel dieses Arbeitsschwerpunktes ist die Identifizierung und Charakterisierung der Glyko-Rezeptoren von viralen und bakteriellen Krankheitserregern. Zunächst wird das Basiswissen der auf Kohlenhydrat-Protein-Wechselwirkungen beruhenden Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktionen erarbeitet. Diese Basisarbeiten dienen einem verbesserten Verständnis der molekularen Pathomechanismen, die der Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktion zugrunde liegen, und des Wirtstropismus der genannten Pathogene und Virulenzfaktoren. Darauf aufbauend sollen unter Einsatz neuester massenspektrometrischer und Biosensorikverfahren zukünftig Glycoarrays für vielfältige Anwendungen entwickelt werden. Einsatzgebiete für Glycoarrays wären beispielsweise ihre Nutzung für die Diagnostik und die Möglichkeit, mit Glycoarraydaten prognostische Aussagen zur Ausprägung und / oder zum Verlauf der jeweiligen Krankheitsbilder bei Tier und Mensch machen zu können.
